beautiful piece Sam. It's so relatable and honestly a bit of what I needed to hear sprinkled in with a bit of reaffirmation that there is another way. I'm stoked to hear you're finding that clarity.
Thanks so much for sharing this, Sam. I struggle with so many similar fears and am still waffling on the idea of building an oasis. It's a solid idea, and I believe it can be powerful and restorative if approached correctly. But, like you, I'm concerned about how my ideas will be received. (I also hate social media, lol.)
I'm encouraged by your experience, and I think it may be time to start considering my own oasis strategy soon...that is to say, moving away from rigidity and "best practices" and into sharing what needs to be shared. :)
Love reading these reflections. It's nice to know others can relate :)
Every day I become a bigger believer in the value of each of us tending to a small corner of the internet in whatever way feels alive and exciting to us. I'd love to stumble upon your oasis one day and see what it contains
I'm coming to believe more in that, too. The internet is so vast...there's no point in shouting into the void in an attempt to become the Next Big Thing at the expense of being who you actually are and sharing your unique insights.
It's like being the digital version of a craftsman, in a way. You focus on getting really good at the one thing you're uniquely gifted to do, keep doing it well over and over, and people take notice.
Yes, Sam, beautiful, and beautifully written. Thank you for sharing and I am going to have to come back to it and re-read it. There's things in there I want to use.
thank you Scott! appreciate you reading and sharing your thoughts. Would love to hear about any experiences you have if you explore any of the ideas in your own life

thanks Latham, glad to hear you got something from it and excited to see where your writing heads in the new year
